COVID Tally: Delhi Logs 2,683 New Cases, Mumbai's Daily Surge Remains Below 1K Mark For Second Day

New Delhi: The national capital Delhi on Tuesday recorded 2,683 new COVID-19 cases, with a positive rate of 5.09 per cent, and 27 more persons died from the viral illness, as per the data shared by the health department.

According to the most recent health bulletin, this brings the national capital's case count to 18,32,951 and the death toll to 25,892, PTI reported.

The number of COVID-19 tests performed a day ago was 52,736, according to the report.

On Monday, the city of Delhi recorded 2,779 COVID-19 cases, with a positive rate of 6.20 per cent and 38 fatalities.

The city registered 3,674 cases on Sunday, with a positive rate of 6.37 per cent and 30 fatalities.

After reaching a record high of 28,867 on January 13, the number of daily cases in Delhi has started declining. On January 14, the city reported a positive rate of 30.6 per cent, the highest during the present pandemic wave.

It only took 10 days for daily cases to fall below 10,000.

Mumbai Covid-19 Tally

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) recorded 803 new COVID-19 cases and seven fatalities on Tuesday, according to a press statement issued here.

Mumbai recorded less than 1,000 new coronavirus infections for the second day in a row, while daily deaths plummeted to single digits for the first time since December 19, 2021, PTI reported.

It increased the number of cases in the country's financial capital to 10,47,393, while the death toll reached 16,630.

The positive rate, or the number of infections discovered per hundred tests, fell to 1.55 per cent from 2.10 per cent the day before.

With 51,492 COVID-19 tests performed since Monday evening, almost 5,800 more than the previous day, the total number of samples analysed has risen to 1,53,40,933.

With 1,800 patients recuperating, the total number of recoveries reached 10,19,088, and the city's recovery rate is 97 per cent.

The caseload doubling rate or period has improved to 485 days, while the total case growth rate from January 25 to 31 was 0.14 per cent.

At the moment, there are 8,888 active COVID-19 patients in Mumbai.

Approximately 81%, or 650, of the 803 new cases were asymptomatic. Only 152 people were admitted to the hospital during the day, with 31 of them requiring oxygen assistance.

According to the BMC, the city has 2,036 of the 37,482 hospital beds earmarked for coronavirus patients occupied.

According to municipal commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal, on January 7, 2022, Mumbai reported the highest-ever 20,971 instances during the "third wave," which began on December 21, 2021.
