Coronavirus Cases Today: India Records Drop In Fresh Infections, Positivity Rate Dips To 2.05%

The active cases comprise 0.12 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.67 per cent.

New Delhi: India recorded a drop in Covid cases on Monday after recording over 8,000 cases for four consecutive days. The country registered 6,594 fresh infections in the last 24 hours, taking India's total Covid tally to 4,32,36,695, according to the data shared by the health ministry. 

With the addition of new infections, the active cases have increased to 50,548. The active cases comprise 0.12 per cent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.67 per cent, the data updated at 8 am stated.

An increase of 2,553 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.05 per cent while the weekly positivity rate was also recorded at 2.32 per cent, according to the health ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,26,61,370, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.21 per cent.

Delhi Covid cases

Delhi on Monday reported 614 fresh COVID-19 cases, while the positivity rate increased to 7.06 per cent, according to data shared by the city health department .

This is the highest positivity rate since May 4 when 7.6 per cent of the people tested turned out positive for COVID-19. Also, this is the fourth consecutive day when Delhi has recorded more than 600 cases.

With the fresh cases reported on Monday, Delhi's COVID-19 tally increased to  19,13,412, the department said in its latest bulletin.

The death toll remained unchanged at 26,221.

Covid vaccination

India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 195.35 Cr (1,95,35,70,360) as per provisional reports till 7 am today. This has been achieved through 2,50,79,283 sessions.

COVID-19 vaccination for the age group 12-14 years was started on 16 March, 2022. So far, more than 3.52 Cr (3,52,45,234) adolescents have been administered with the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine. Similarly, the COVID-19 precaution dose administration for age group 18-59 years also started from 10th April, 2022 onwards.
