Delhi Reports 86 New Covid-19 Cases Amid Omicron Threat, Highest Spike In Over Five Months

New Delhi: As efforts continue to contain the spread of the Covid-19 Omicron variant, Delhi on Saturday reported 86 new coronavirus cases.

The number of casualties in Delhi as of now stands at 25,100 as no deaths have been reported for the tenth consecutive day.
So far in December this year, only two deaths due to Covid-19 have been recorded in Delhi.
Earlier last month, seven deaths due to Covid-19 were reported in Delhi, while the figure stood at four and five in October and September respectively.
Currently, there are 484 active coronavirus patients in Delhi with 203 reportedly in home isolation.
As per the health bulletin, the Covid-19 positivity rate in Delhi is 0.13 percent on Saturday.
Over 14 lakh patients have so far recovered from the disease.
The total number of coronavirus cases recorded in Delhi so far reached 14,42,090.
Earlier on Friday, 69 coronavirus cases were recorded in Delhi with a positivity rate of 0.12 percent.
The daily cases count earlier on Thursday stood at 85 with a positivity rate of 0.15 per cent, while 57 coronavirus cases were recorded in Delhi on Wednesday with a positivity rate of 0.10 percent.
As per the health bulletin, a total of 66,096 tests -- 59,901 RT-PCR and 6,195 rapid antigen tests -- were conducted a day ago, PTI reported.
The total number of containment zones in Delhi as on date is 153.
