Ubisoft Postpones The Launch Of Assassin's Creed Shadows To Valentine's Day 2025, Here's Why

In a statement, Ubisoft, while explaining the reason for the postponement, said, the game needs more time "to polish and refine the experience, pushing further some of our key features."

The gaming community has been eagerly waiting for the new title of the Assassin's Creed franchise to hit the market, but their wait has only become longer now. Ubisoft has recently announced that it has delayed the launch of the Assassin's Creed Shadows by three months. Earlier, the open-world adventure game was supposed to be launched on November 12, 2024, but now the much-awaited game will be released on the coming Valentine's Day, i.e., February 14, 2025. In a statement, Ubisoft, while explaining the reason for the postponement, said, the game needs more time "to polish and refine the experience, pushing further some of our key features."

In a recent announcement, Ubisoft revealed that Assassin's Creed Shadows will be available on Steam from the very first day of its release. This marks a notable shift from the company's approach with its last major PC release, Star Wars Outlaws, which did not debut on Steam initially. Ubisoft is making further adjustments to its release strategy by refunding all preorders, a move likely aimed at enhancing customer satisfaction and trust.

Additionally, Ubisoft is breaking away from the standard practice of offering a traditional season pass. Instead, the company has opted to provide a more consumer-friendly model, where anyone who preorders Assassin's Creed Shadows will receive the first expansion at no extra cost.

Why Did Assassin's Creed Shadows' Launch Get Delayed

Ubisoft, in a note to the new investment community, noted that the features in Assassin's Creed Shadows were complete, but the learnings from the release of Star Wars Outlaws "led us to provide additional time to further polish the title." As per the company, Star Wars Outlaws had a "softer than expected launch."

The company added, "This will enable the biggest entry in the franchise to fully deliver on its ambition, notably by fulfilling the promise of our dual protagonist adventure, with Naoe and Yasuke bringing two very different gameplay styles."
