Will Anubhav Sinha's Directorial 'Anek' Turn Out To Be Ayushmann Khurrana’s 'URI'?

In 'Anek', a political action thriller, Ayushmann Khurrana plays an undercover cop who is on a mission to bring peace to the country.

New Delhi: Vicky Kaushal's 'URI: The Surgical Strike' went on to become a sleeper hit in 2019, and created a spark in industry circles both with its commercial success and critical acclaim.

It also made Vicky Kaushal, an overnight sensation and finally got him his due as a powerhouse performer and a talent that made everyone sit up and take notice.

The buzz around Anubhav Sinha’s 'Anek', a political action thriller where Ayushmann Khurrana plays an undercover cop who is on a mission to bring peace to the country, reminds us of URI with the scale of action sequences, Ayushmann’s character.

While the young star has been part of riveting content in the past including 'Vicky Donor', 'Andhadhun' which won him a National award , 'Dum Laga Ke Haisha', 'Badhaai Ho', 'Bala', and several others, it is for the very first time that the actor steps into the shoes of an undercover cop. If that wasn’t all, ‘Anek’ also marks the second collaboration between filmmaker Anubhav Sinha and Khurrana who last worked together on Article 15, another film that was unanimously praised.

Which brings us to the question; will Anek go on to be Khurrana’s URI?

Some might say very much so, since the movie has a lot to offer audiences from  high octane action stunts,  the larger-than-life backdrop of the North East, Ayushmann in a never-seen-before avatar, and a gripping plot. Apart from striking a partriotic chord with the masses, Anek also deals with a subject we haven’t explored in the fabric of Indian cinema before.

While 'How's The Josh?' was a rage back in 2019, in 2022 it's Anek's 'Jeetega kaun? Hindustan!" that fast became the talk of the town, with some of the biggest celebrity names standing in solidarity to support the film’s message.

Hard-hitting at its very core, the trailer of Anubhav Sinha’s political action thriller ‘Anek’ took the digital world by storm!  With all the boxes of an incredible entertainer being struck out, Anek is definitely seeming like a game changer for Ayushmann Khurrana much like how URI was for Vicky Kaushal.

We can’t wait to find out.
