Ban The Family Man Season 2: MDMK Leader Vaiko Writes To Prakash Javadekar

While 'The Famil Man-2' directors, Raj and DK of the web series urge people to watch the show once it is released without making opinions from the trailer.

Chennai: 'The Family Man Season 2' was mired with controversies as some of the leaders from Tamil Nadu accused that the Tamilians have been shown in a bad light. After the release of its trailer, there was a great hype about the Manoj Bajpayee starrer web series until Seeman, the Cheif Coordinator of Naam Tamilar Katchi has pointed out the frays. Now, Rajya Sabha MP and MDMK leader Vaiko joined the bandwagon wrote to Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Prakash Javadekar to ban the web series. 

The MDMK leader sent a letter to the Union Minister on May 19. According to his letter, "the web series depicts that the Tamilians are terrorists and ISI agents liked with Pakistan. Moreover, the sacrifices made by the Tamil Ellam warriors were also wrongly portrayed as terrorist acts."

He also wrote that actor Samantha's role, whose portrayal was like a terrorist, has hurt the sentiments of Tamil people and offensive against the Tamil community. Urging immediate action to be taken on the web series, he wrote: "The Ministry of I & B should prevent the release of The Family Man-2 on Amazon Prime. Otherwise, the people of Tamil Nadu will react seriously and the government has to face severe consequences."

Earlier, Naam Tamilar Katchi chief coordinator Seeman also demanded to take down the show on OTT platforms. 

ABP also tried to know the reaction of Amazon Prime to this controversy, but they haven't responded on issue. Meanwhile, in an interview to a national newspaper, Raj and DK, the directors of 'The Family Man', said that their show has been described as balanced and it has given equal attention to all the sides.

When asked about sentiments of Tamil people is hurt and culture has deteriorated, the directors said, "People are forming their opinions based on the few shots shown in the trailer. Many of the leading actors of our show are Tamilians. We respect the sentiments and culture of the Tamil people. We respect and love Tamil people ... We urge all people to wait for the show to be released and see it when it is released. We are sure that after watching it you too will definitely appreciate it."
