Urmila Matondkar Defends Shah Rukh Khan Following Spitting Controversy At Lata Mangeshkar's Funeral, Slams Trolls For Insensitive Remarks

Actor and politician, Urmila Matondkar used her Twitter handle to defend Shah Rukh’s gesture at Lata Mangeshkar’s last rites.

Shah Rukh Khan was spotted paying his condolences to the iconic singer Lata Mangeshkar, who died on February 6 at the age of 92. Subsequently, Shah Rukh became a center of attack for trolls who accused him of spitting at the mortal remains of the legendary singer while he was reciting the duaa(prayers).

The video of Shah Rukh Khan is going viral when he lifted his mask and breathed through his lips for a split second. According to some people, breathing air is part of praying for a deceased soul in Islam. However, others felt that SRK was spitting on Late Lata Ji's body and began to despise the actor.

Actor and politician, Urmila Matondkar used her Twitter handle to defend Shah Rukh’s gesture at Lata Mangeshkar’s last rites. Urmila replied to these slanderous allegations by speaking out in support of Shah Rukh Khan. The 48-year-old actor seems enraged by society's deteriorating mentality.

Matondkar earlier expressed her sorrow in reaction to the heartbreaking news of Lata Ji’s demise writing, "Apart from being a #Legend an exemplary life of a #Daughter of #India who showed us what a daughter can achieve n stand tall for the entire #family #RIPLataMangeshkar," on Twitter.

Several admirers of King Khan showed their support for the actor online and described his gesture as a religious practice. Meanwhile, some fans are circulating the clip of a movie 'My Name Is Khan' played by Shah Rukh Khan in which his character does the same.

What are your thoughts on this incident? Was it spitting or a religious gesture?
