Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai: New woman in Kartik's life post 5 rs leap, played by Pankhuri who married last year & returning to TV after 2 yrs

Pankhuri Awasthy, who tied the knot with her 'Suryaputra Karna' co-actor Gautam Rode last year, is returning to small screen with YRKKH.

Pankhuri Awasthy most popularly known for shows like 'Kya Qusoor Hai Amala Ka?' and 'Suryaputra Karn', has been away from the small screen for past two years but the actress is now set to return and will play an important role in the Star Plus show 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai'.  Pankhuri, who got married to her 'Suryaputra Karn' co-actor Gautam Rode on February 5th last yea[See PICS!], is making entry in YRKKH as the parallel lead opposite Mohsin Khan. 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai' is reportedly set to take a leap of 5 years, post which Pankhuri will enter Kartik Goenka's(played by Mohsin Khan) life and family. Having done shows like 'Suryaputra Karn' and 'Razia Sultan', it is the first time that Pankhuri will be will be seen in a family drama and she is glad to experiment with different genre.

Confirming her entry in #YehRisha, Pankhuri said in a statement- "Yeh Rishta...' is like a brand on television. The show has such a loyal audience. At a time when shows are getting pulled off in the blink of an eye, it's quite a feat to have a show that's been around for 10 years". "I am glad to be trying my hand at a different genre...in a show which already has an established audience. It ups the responsibility, but I take that in my stride," she added. On her role, she shared: "She is a soft, demure yet a mature individual who will win over the love of everyone around her. I feel she's a very relatable person and that's what convinced me to take up the role."  Speaking to TOI, revealing further on her role in YRKKH, she said, “It is good to be back on television, and that too, on a show that has been running for a decade now. I am playing a sweet, soft-spoken girl, who enters Kartik’s family. It will be followed by a lot of twists and turns.”
