‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ Producer Asit Modi Wants To See ‘Dayaben’ Aka Disha Vakani Back On Show

Popular character Dayaben took a break from TMKOC after embracing motherhood in 2017 and since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for her return to the show.

New Delhi: One of the most popular shows on Television ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ has been making the audience giggle with their bone-tickling content for a long time now. Famous for its characters including Jethalal, Dayaben and others, ‘TMKOC’ is one of the longest-running sitcoms in the history of Indian Television.

Popular character Dayaben, however, took a break from the show after embracing motherhood in 2017 and since then, fans have been eagerly waiting for her return to the show. But, a few days back, according to a report, it was revealed that the actress has decided to quit the show permanently. Though there has been no official confirmation on it yet, the news left the fans heartbroken.

Now, while speaking to a leading daily, the producer of TMKOC, Asit Kumar Modi revealed that he also wants Dayaben aka Disha Vakani back on the show but things are not possible due to the current COVID-19 pandemic. Asit told ETimes, “I understand that the audience has got tired of waiting for Daya bhabhi and they want to see her back and I can understand their sentiments. I can understand that the viewers want to see Daya Ben and even I want to see her again on the show. From an audience perspective if I see I also want Daya Bhabhi on the show, but during this pandemic few things are not possible and the audience will have to support me for the next 2-3 months. I request them to understand our situation.”

‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ is based on the weekly column ‘Duniya Ne Undha Chasma’ by Taarak Mehta in ‘Chitralekha’ magazine. The show aired its first episode on July 28, 2008.
