Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah Producer Asit Modi On Sexual Harassment Allegations: 'Never Thought Ill Of Someone'

'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' producer Asit Modi broke his silence on the sexual harassment allegations levelled against him by the show’s actor Jennifer Mistry.

New Delhi: 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah' has recently completed 15 years and the whole team was in celebratory mode because of the big achievement. Amid this, the show’s producer Asit Modi finally broke his silence on the sexual harassment allegations levelled against him by the show’s actor Jennifer Mistry. Jennifer, who used to play the character of Mrs Roshan Sodhi in the show, had accused Asit Modi of sexual harassment and also spoke about the toxic work culture on the set of the show. After her, many other actors who had worked on the show in the past came out and spoke against the work environment.

Asit Modi took to the show’s official YouTube channel and spoke about the 15-year-long journey. He also addressed all the allegations against him and his production team and said that he’s never done any wrong, and in case he’s hurt anyone intentionally, he apologised to them.

“In this 15-year-long journey, there are some cast members who left us out of their own will. They got off the train midway and went their own way but I won't forget their contribution. I praise their hard work and thank them. But I can assure you, we have never thought ill of someone or said anything wrong but if someone has felt hurt, unintentionally, I apologise to them sincerely,” he said in the video.

He added, "In these 15 years, we faced a lot of adversities, a lot of people tried to spoil Gokuldham Society's image and a lot of negative things were said but we kept positive thinking. With truth and God's blessings, we faced all the situations bravely. And that is why we have reached this stage. We have never wanted bad for anyone and thought well of everyone."

In another video, he promised his fans that he will bring back Dayaben’s character back in the show. “In this 15 years journey, there is one character that has always stayed with the audience. It is Dayaben, played by Disha Vakani. We have only love and respect for Disha. I also promise the audience that we would soon get Dayaben back in the show,” he said in the video.

Disha left the show in 2017 as she took a maternity break and has been on a break ever since.
