‘Saath Nibhana Saathiya’ actor Mohammad Nazim REACTS on Sonu Nigam’s ‘azaan’ controversy

New Delhi: Popular TV actor Mohammad Nazim , who is currently seen in Star Plus’ show ‘Saath Nibhana Saathiya’ as 'Ahem Modi', has given his reaction on the ongoing Sonu Nigam’s controversial tweet about ‘azaan’. Talking to Bollywood life, Mohammad said, “First of all I respect every religion. Agar unhone aise particular Azaan ke baare mein bola hai toh matlab abhi mere ghar ke paas Church bhi hai. Wahaan bhi 6 baje ghantiyaan bajti hain. Wahaan mandir bhi hain. Main mandir-mazjid ke paas rehta hun. Aisi choti-choti cheezon ko lekar mudda uthana matlab aap padhe likhe ho. Sonu Nigam is not a small name. He’s a big name of the industry. Agar yahi log aisi baatein karenge toh aam logo ke liye kya bachega phir. Ye galat cheez hai. Unko aisa bolna hi nahi chahiye.” He further added, “Jab woh industry mein aaye the tab Sonu Nigam ek aisa insaan tha jo sirf aur sirf Rafi sahaab ki copy karta tha. Mohammad Rafi ki. Mohammad Rafi toh aise insaan the jo namaaz nahi chodte the, gaana chod dete the lekin namaaz nahi chodte the. Agar woh insaan Rafi sahaab ko apna guru maante ho toh aisi cheezein matlab he’s not a kid yaar. He is an educated guy. Ekbaar pehle bhi unhone aise kuch kiya tha plane mein kuch. Toh aisi cheezein kyun karte hain? Samajh hi nahi aata. Jo bhi hai galat hai ye. Main unhe galat nahi bol sakta par jo unhone bola hai woh galat hai. Woh galat hain ya nahin hai main ye bhi nahi bolunga. Kyunki mujhe koi haqq nahi hai kuch bolne ka, I am very small. He is an educated guy, unhe pura Hindustan, unhe puri duniya jaanti hai. Ab woh aisi cheezein karenge toh log kya sochenge? Aam janta toh kuch nahi samjhegi.” When Nazim came to know that Sonu shaved his head today in a press meet after a Kolkata-based cleric announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh to anybody who can tonsure Nigam and garland him with old shoes, actor said “Maulvi is equally wrong in making such mindless demands as shaving the singer’s head is not going to make any difference.” On Monday, Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam tweeted about ‘Forced religiousness’ after we was woken up to the sound of ‘azaan’.
