Humari Bahu Silk Actress Chahat Pandey Had Attempted Suicide After Makers Didn't Pay The Cast their Dues!

Humari Bahu Silk aired on ZeeTV last year and was pulled off air in just five months.

In the wake of TV actor Manmeet Grewal's recent suicide owing to financial crisis, while the TV industry is in shock many actors have come forward claiming that they have not been paid since 2019 or before. In-fact one of the actress had even attempted suicide because of this in past. Actor Zaan Khan, who was last seen in Humari Bahu Silk, recently revealed that the cast and crew of the show had not been paid till now, even though the show went off air months back. He has also revealed that his co-star from the show, Chahta Pandey had attempted suicide! In an interview with Pinkvilla, Zaan said, “Chahat had actually attempted to commit suicide, but it was her mother who came to her rescue. Her mother stopped her from taking the drastic step. She has struggled a lot to be an actress, this money means a lot to her. It is the first time that she has earned such a big amount, but to her sheer bad luck, she is deprived of this also. She is the sole earning member in her family, her father is no more, and she has two small brothers and a mother to look after.”

He went on and also added that he has received numerous calls from the crew, seeking help. “We all have put in our hearts and souls during those 8 months of shooting, setting dada, spot dada, and others' are crying and pleading on calls just to get their own money back.”But the producers do not seem to care. He said that initially, they were all calm, but later, the attitude of the producers changed. He said, “'They used to give us false hopes that they will be repaid in a month, and it went on and on. At first, we all kept our calm, but they started threatening us with 'Do whatever you can,' we understood their actual intentions. It is then that our patience broke and we started pressurizing them for giving us our hard-earned money. We have decided to take the legal route, we are just waiting for the lockdown to end to file a criminal suit against these fraudsters.”

Not that I knew him, but the news about his suicide owing to his financial crisis is disturbing! (Needless to mention Migrants’ plight in the news everyday) Now, was he the only one going through it? No! Every living being is. I know many of my friends(Actors) that haven’t been paid since last year or more with rents and EMIs mounting, work this year clearly being halted indefinitely, everyone’s losing patience somewhere. I know, Producers have bigger risks and problems to deal with .. no clarity on the industry resuming Work any soon ,but still keeping up with the salaries of their huge staff , I totally respect that! Infact would thank them for generating thousands of jobs for us through the years, I could make a better life here. On that note, I’d just like to make a humble request on behalf of my fellow actors/ friends, other daily wagers that their dues be paid asap especially at a time when they need it the most so that we’re not waking up to more such Suicide Stories a few days or a month later!! I wish to be financially so strong one day that I myself could help people around. I rest my note.
