CONFIRMED! Kritika Kamra to play 'Chandrakanta' on Life Ok!

Remember 90's fantasy television series 'Chandrakanta' that was aired on Doordarshan's DD National between 1994 and 1996. The hit TV series made Shikha Swarup, who played the titular character a household name. And now after 23 years after the show was launched two producers- Ekta Kapoor & Nikhil Sinha are at a loggerheads, with both wanting to remake the fantasy show 'Chandrakanta'. Shikha Swarup as Chandrakanta While Ekta is still on a hunt for her new 'Chandrakanta', producer Nikhil Sinha has finalized his leading lady portraying the titular role of Chandrakanta and  she is none other than small screen hottie Kritika Kamra! Oopss! TV hottie Kritika Kamra DUMPS boyfriend Siddharth! Ironically Kritika Kamra is Ekta Kapoor's discovery and now she will compete with her mentor's show based on same subject! Kritika Kamra is the new Chandrakanta of television! Kritika confirmed the same in a press release stating, "I had no clue about two producers working on the same subject. I realised it only when I saw both the teasers on the internet. Ekta has given me memorable shows and I am still remembered as Arohi from 'Kitani Mohabbat Hai'. The rivalry could be between the channels or the production houses, but not between Ekta and me. We are friends and I'm sure she would be happy for me. Also, the fact that there are two shows will make the competition interesting. In the end, good content will win the audience's heart. Having said that, I want both the shows to do well." Ex-Lovers Karan Kundra-Kritika Kamra Back Together? Revealing why she said yes to the project, Kritika said "I have never been part of a costume drama before. I have watched the first 'Chandrakanta' as a child, but nostalgia isn't the reason I am taking it up. I found the script interesting. The central character is not only a beautiful woman, but she's also a fighter and has a sense of purpose,". Kritika Kamra is the new Chandrakanta of television! Kritika, was last seen in Sony TV's 'Reporters' opposite Rajeev Khandelwal almost a year-and-a-half ago, and was on a break since then but the lady has now started preparing for the part. "I am on detox. I want to be in good shape, be healthy and have good skin. The look is very important and I need to look believable as a princess,". We wonder how Ekta will react to this and whom she is going to finalised as her 'Chandrakanta', meanwhile there are rumours that Ankita Lokhande might be finalised as Ekta's leading lady but nothing is official as of now!
