Speaking on the new genre that he is attempting in the show, Karan told DNA that, "I have done a bit of comedy when I was doing theatre. But this is different. I have been part of a show — Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai for eight years and worked on it for the longest hours and years that any TV actor can do. I am trying to explore my horizons. I found this interesting. Producer-director Ashwini Dhir is a prominent name in the comedy space and he was keen that I do this serial. Moreover, it’s a finite story which appealed to me."
