Actress Sushmita Sen shared a heartfelt post as she celebrated 29 years since she claimed the Miss Universe title in 1994.

New Delhi: Actress Sushmita Sen shared a heartfelt post as she celebrated 29 years since she claimed the Miss Universe title in 1994. On Sunday morning, Sushmita posted a monochrome photo of herself that was taken almost thirty years earlier. Sushmita peered into the camera while holding her hands on either side of her face in the close-up shot. 

Sharing the picture, she wrote, "This picture is exactly 29 years old, shot by the epic man & photographer #prabuddhadasgupta 😍❤️🤗

In the rawness of this picture, he beautifully captured an 18 year old me…with a smile he said, you realise you’re the first Miss Universe I’ve ever shot…I proudly added, it’s actually INDIA’s first ever Miss Universe 😊❤️"

She also added, "The privilege of representing & winning for my Motherland is an honour so profound, it brings me to tears of joy even today...29 years later!!!🤗🇮🇳❤️

I celebrate & remember this day with great pride as History bears witness, INDIA won Miss Universe for the first time ever on 21st May 1994 in Manila #philippines (Mahal Kita 🇵🇭😍)"

She concluded the note with, "Thank you all for the love, goodness, & the most beautiful messages…forever cherished!!!😍😊💋

I love you guys!!!! #duggadugga 🥰💃🏻🎶"

Sushmita won the Miss Universe title in 1994 after competing against women from 77 other nations. She was the first Indian woman to do so. Aishwarya Rai was crowned Miss World in the same year.

Sushmita will next be seen by viewers in season three of Aarya, which will air on Disney+ Hotstar. Sushmita Sen made her cinematic comeback and her ott debut with Aarya. In June 2020, Sushmita made an electrifying return with Aarya. In the show, the actor portrays a fierce mother who goes above and beyond to defend her family from the criminal underworld.

The International Emmy Awards nominated the first season for Best Drama Series. The Ram Madhvani-directed series also has crucial performances by Namit Das, Manish Chaudhari, Sikandar Kher, and Vinod Rawat, among others. The third season's release date has not yet been announced by the show's producers, but the second season was released in December 2021.
