Vijay Deverakonda On Rajinikanth And Chiranjeevi Giving Flops: 'We Should Shut Up And Watch'

During a promotional event for 'Kushi', Vijay Deverakonda spoke about superstars Rajinikanth and Chiranjeevi and said they are beyond hits and flops.

New Delhi: Actor Vijay Deverakonda is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Kushi also starring Samantha Ruth Prabhu. During a promotional event for the film, the actor spoke about superstars Rajinikanth and Chiranjeevi and said that they are beyond hits and flops.

During the media interaction, Vijay said that he finds it disrespectful when these superstars are judged by a film’s box office performance as they are beyond hits and flops.

“Rajinikanth sir gave 5-6 back-to-back flops. But he came back again with a blockbuster like Jailer. Then we should shut up and watch,” Vijay told the media.

Talking about Chiranjeevi, he said, “Chiranjeevi may have 6-7 flops back-to-back. But if the right director gets his energy, he will come back with a sensation like he did this Sankranti. Chiru sir changed the industry. When he came, the action, dance and performance there changed completely. He inspired many people to enter the industry.”

"They are legends and we need to respect them. It's heartening to see Kamal sir back with 'Vikram' and Rajini sir with 'Jailer'," he added.

Earlier, during the trailer launch of Kushi, the actor had opened up about the failure of his Bollywood debut ‘Liger.’

The actor told the media, "It does hurt when a film doesn't work. I have experienced many flops in the past, and 'Liger' is not the first one. I have also had many hits before. I will continue to experience both flops and hits, because ultimately we are trying to tell stories."

He added that as a creative person, he wants to tell as many stories as he can, and the process of doing so involves many risks. But, despite the risks, he will still do it every time and give it his all.

Vijay said, "My ambition is always to pursue something creative, and my lifestyle is to wholeheartedly commit to it."

'Kushi' is set to release in theatres on September 1.
