Veteran Malayalam Actress Meena Ganesh Passes Away In Kerala

Malayalam actress Meena Ganesh has passed away. The actor reportedly died on  Thursday, December 19, in Kerala's Palakkad area.

Malayalam actress Meena Ganesh has passed away. The actor reportedly died on  Thursday, December 19, in Kerala's Palakkad area. As per Manorama News, Meena Ganesh was undergoing treatment at a private institute in Kerala. The veteran actor was undergoing treatment when her blood pressure increased.

The publication also claimed that the actress had a stroke five days ago and was getting treated for the same. However, the news is yet to be confirmed.

Meena Ganesh's last rites will take place in Shoranur on Thursday evening.

Who was Meena Ganesh?

Meena Ganesh was a veteran Malayalam actress known for her versatile performances in both films and theater. She was born in 1942 in Palakkad, Kerala, and began her acting career at a young age, performing in stage plays.  

Her film debut came in 1977 with the movie ‘Mani Muzhakkam’. Throughout her career, she appeared in over 100 films, predominantly in supporting roles. Some of her notable films include ‘Vasantiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njanum’, ‘Nandanam’, and ‘Karumadikkuttan.’ 

Meena Ganesh has worked with actors like Prithviraj Sukumaran, Dileep, Mohanlal, Mammootty and Kalabhavan Mani.

Beyond her film work, Meena Ganesh was also a prominent figure in the Malayalam theater scene. She performed with renowned theater groups like SL Puram Surya Soma, Kayamkulam Kerala Theatres, and Thrissur Chinmaya, winning numerous awards for her stage performances.  

Meena Ganesh's family

Meena Ganesh passed away on December 19, 2024, at the age of 81. She was married to fellow actor A.N. Ganesh, and their son Manoj Ganesh is a well-known film director.

Meena Ganesh is survived by her two children, a son named Manoj Ganesh and a daughter named Sangeetha.
