New Delhi: National Award-winning actor Dhanush delighted fans on Wednesday by unveiling the first poster of his upcoming movie, which will chronicle the life of legendary music composer Ilaiyaraaja.
Titled 'Ilaiyaraaja,' the film will be helmed by director Arun Matheswaran, known for directing Dhanush's last film 'Captain Miller.' Dhanush took to his social media platforms to share the poster, expressing his honour for portraying music maestro Ilaiyaraaja in the film.

About Ilaiyaraaja
The movie aims to encapsulate the remarkable journey of Ilaiyaraaja, celebrated as one of India's most prolific music composers. With a career spanning over five decades, Ilaiyaraaja has left an indelible mark on the industry, having composed over 7,000 songs for more than 1,000 films and performed in over 20,000 concerts worldwide.
His contributions to music have earned him prestigious accolades, including the Padma Bhushan in 2010 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2018, recognising his outstanding achievements in the field.
The music maestro’s daughter Bhavatharini passed away in January this year after battling cancer. The late National award-winning singer died in Sri Lanka where she was undergoing treatment.
'Ilaiyaraaja' is set to release in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. The film is backed by Connekkt Media, PK Prime Production, and Mercuri Movies, with Sriram Bakthisaran, C K Padma Kumar, Varun Mathur, Ilamparithy Gajendran, and Saurabh Mishra credited as producers. Renowned cinematographer Nirav Shah will be handling the cinematography for the project.
The shooting for the film is scheduled to start in October 2024 with the makers aiming for the release of the film around mid-2025.
Dhanush is also gearing up for other exciting projects such as 'Raayan,' a film he has written and directed, and filmmaker Sekhar Kammula's 'Kubera,' where he shares the screen with Nagarjuna, Rashmika Mandanna, and Jim Sarbh.
