Actor Anshu Ambani has appealed to fans to move beyond the recent uproar surrounding director Trinadha Rao Nakkina's remarks about her physique, urging everyone to concentrate on the forthcoming release of their Telugu movie Mazaka.
What Trinadha Rao Nakkina said for Anshu Ambani
The controversy arose during the teaser launch event for Mazaka on Sunday when Nakkina's comments about Ambani's "size" sparked backlash across social media and in the industry. Following the criticism, the director issued a public apology, clarifying that his remarks were meant in "jest."
Anshu Ambani's request to her fans
In a video message shared on social media, Ambani addressed the situation, playing down the incident and praising Nakkina. "I believe his words may have been taken out of context... He has treated me as a member of his family. I've worked on this movie for 60 days, and I have been given nothing but respect, love, and lots of good wishes. Please, everybody, if we can put this to bed because I'm so excited about the movie," she said.
Calling Nakkina "the loveliest man on the planet," she added, "I feel we should all watch the film for the right reasons. Trinadha sir has been an absolute pleasure to work with. I could not have asked for a better director to bring me back to the Telugu film industry. I'm grateful that he has been guiding me through this process. I have nothing but love and gratitude for him and the entire team."
Trinadha Rao Nakkina's apology
On Monday, Nakkina shared his own video statement, expressing regret over the incident and acknowledging the criticism. "I made those comments in jest, hoping to make everyone laugh. However, if these remarks have hurt you, this is my mistake. I would like to issue a heartfelt apology, as they were objectionable. I will also personally apologise to Anshu. I didn’t realise this would become such a significant issue," he said.
Anshu Ambani, celebrated for her performances in Telugu films like ‘Manmadhudu’ and ‘Raghavendra’, as well as the Tamil film ‘Jai’, is making her return to Telugu cinema after over two decades. Her comeback film ‘Mazaka’ is set to hit theatres on February 21, and she has expressed her excitement about reconnecting with audiences after such a long hiatus.
