Speculation Of Tejashwi Yadav Getting RJD's Command Runs High As Party Holds National Meet

The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is holding its national executive meeting today at Maurya Hotel in Patna. Several key decisions are expected to be taken at the meeting.

Bihar Assembly Election 2025: The Bihar political arena is buzzing with activity as parties gear up for the assembly elections slated to be held later this year. Not to fall behind, the principal Opposition party in Bihar, RJD, is reportedly contemplating a leadership change.

A meeting of the National Executive is being held on Saturday under the chairmanship of Lalu Prasad Yadav, the national president of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). All the big leaders of the party are present at this meeting at Maurya Hotel in Patna. Party sources said RJD chairman Tejashwi Yadav could be handed the President's chair or given additional roles.

The party may also declare that the Assembly elections would be fought under the leadership of Tejashwi. This would stamp Tejashwi's name as the party's Chief Ministerial candidate in the Mahagathbandhan government. However, nothing official has been announced yet and these could turn out to be mere speculations.

RJD's Stand On Nitish Kumar

In the meeting of the RJD National Executive, the leaders and workers are likely to be clarified about the party's official stand on CM Nitish Kumar. Earlier, Lalu Yadav and Misa Bharti offered Nitish Kumar an opportunity to join the Mahagathbandhan. But Tejashwi had dismissed any chance of the CM getting back in the alliance.

A proposal on the organisational elections of the RJD from January to July is also likely to be announced.

The Mai Behan Maan Yojana announced by Tejashwi Yadav, which promises an increase in the amount of the old age pension scheme, and proposals like 200 units of free electricity will be discussed. Several proposals may be stamped in the meeting. A new state president may also be elected.

Party MLA Mukesh Roshan said that the meeting is to brainstorm on strengthening the organisation and discussing the election strategy. "Lalu Yadav and Tejashwi are our leaders. Whatever decision they take, we shall support. On Tej Pratap, however, most leaders remained mum. "Tej Pratap is a strong pillar of our party," an RJD leader said.
