Game Changer, starring Ram Charan, is currently playing in theatres. Despite being a high-budget entertainer produced by Dil Raju, the film has received mixed to negative reviews from critics and is significantly underperforming at the box office. The movie has been criticised for its outdated presentation and predictable storyline.
Game Changer director Shankar's reaction on film's reviews
In a recent interview, director Shankar was asked if he had watched any YouTube or online reviews of Game Changer. The anchor pointed out that online reviews are increasingly influencing public opinion. Responding to this, Shankar said, “No, I haven’t watched any reviews. But I heard the movie got good reviews.”
Shankar’s statement has drawn heavy criticism from netizens, who believe the director should pay attention to online feedback to identify shortcomings and improve his future projects. According to SJ Suryah, the movie was made on a staggering budget of over ₹400 crores, but trade reports indicate that it has only managed to gross ₹160 crores so far.
The Hindi version of the film had a relatively decent opening weekend, but collections crashed on its first Monday, earning just ₹2.4 crores nett. While the Sankranthi holiday season may provide a short-term boost in revenue, the long-term prospects for this political action drama appear bleak.
