Raj Thackeray's MNS Supports Om Raut's 'Adipurush', Asks MP Minister If He Has Seen Ravana In Real Life
The MNS leader further said that Om Raut is a 'hindutvawadi' and can't hurt Hindu sentiments, besides also sharing that the film will be released and no 'gundagardi' will be accepted.
New Delhi: After 'Adipurush' faced so much backlash for its VFX, and the portrayal of Hindu deities with some politicians even threatening legal action against the film, Raj Thackeray's Maharashtra Navnirman Sena has come out in support of the film and its director Om Raut. Calling out BJP leaders' threat that the movie will not be allowed to release,MNS leader Ameya Khopkar asked whether BJP leader Ram Kadam has seen Ravana in real life. Besdes wearing of leathre by Lord Hanuman in the film and his beard in the 'Muslim style', the portrayal of Ravana by Saif Ali Khan has also been criticised with most comparisons being drawn with Khilji rather than Ravana as a character.
Has Ram Kadam ever seen Ravana in his life or does he have a photo of Ravana in his pocket? You must give liberty to directors. To give liberty doesn't mean disrespecting Devi and Devtas. I oppose this controversy and MNS gives its full support to this movie (Adipurush)," MNS's Ameya Khopkar said to news agency ANI.
"After just seeing the teaser and for your dirty politics, you are stopping this film. They need to think beyond politics. MNS does not accept this type of dirty politics. It's very easy to say that we oppose this film, but 400 to 500 people feed their stomachs from this movie. MNS supports all religions whether it's Hindu or Muslim. There is no difference for us. First, watch this movie and then make a decision, only watching the teaser you can't decide whether it's right or wrong, he further added.
The MNS leader further said that Om Raut is a 'hindutvawadi' and can't hurt Hindu sentiments, besides also sharing that the film will be released and no 'gundagardi' will be accepted.
The teaser of the Prabhas-starrer was released in Ayodhya on October 2 instantly creating controversies for many reasons. BJP member Ram Kadan said that the film will not be allowed to release even if it made some changes. In another instance Madhya Pradesh's Home Minister Narottam Mishra and Vishva Hindu Parishad had reservations with the film's teaser.
Many other controversies surrounding the film have also erupted.
