‘Aap Kyu Publicity…’: Rahul Vaidya Reacts To Virat Kohli’s Brother’s Remarks After Viral Spat

Singer Rahul Vaidya has finally addressed the much-talked-about drama involving cricket star Virat Kohli.

Singer Rahul Vaidya has finally addressed the much-talked-about drama involving cricket star Virat Kohli, clarifying that the situation was nothing more than a misunderstood episode that spiraled out of control. From Instagram blocks to being trolled by fans, Vaidya opened up about the entire chain of events in a recent interview with Instant Bollywood.

Recounting how the issue began, Vaidya explained, “I couldn’t see Virat Kohli’s profile on Instagram. I don’t know whether he blocked me or what the actual reason was. And I’ve been a huge fan of his, as a batsman. He’s one of the most incredible batsmen we’ve ever had.”

The singer believes the issue escalated after he commented on Kohli’s explanation regarding a “like” on actress Avneet Kaur’s post, which Kohli had attributed to an Instagram glitch.

Vaidya found the explanation amusing and responded with a light-hearted jab. “At that time, he had liked an influencer’s post. He put up a Story and said it was an Instagram glitch. How can it be a glitch? That’s so funny. Just admit you ‘liked’ it accidentally, that’s okay.”

However, things turned sour when he made a humorous remark about being blocked, which didn’t sit well with Kohli’s fans.

“I said just like that’s an Instagram glitch, me getting blocked is also a glitch... His fans began abusing me, my family, and my sister in the comments.”

As tensions grew, Vaidya lashed out, calling Kohli and his fans "jokers", a comment that sparked even more backlash. “Now, you’d ask me why I called him a joker? Because somewhere, I was referring to his comment that ‘liking’ a post was an Instagram glitch. And joker is not a bad word.”

Despite the uproar, Vaidya revealed that the situation may have never been as serious as it appeared. “I was travelling in car when suddenly, Instagram suggested me Virat Kohli’s profile. I couldn’t see it for so many days... Maybe he never blocked me.”

Vaidya expressed regret over how things unfolded and hinted at extending a personal apology. “If you’re fond of someone, you can just say, ‘I regret the whole thing.’” He also mentioned an interaction with Kohli’s brother, Vikas, who had initially criticised him but had once praised his singing in person.

During the chat, Rahul said in Hindi, “After the incident, his brother had said some things to me. ‘Isse accha aap apni singing pe dhyaan dijiye (Better that you focus on your singing).’ He is the same Vikas Kohli who had met me outside a stadium in Manchester and praised my singing. But I know how it feels because these small controversies also have an impact on the person's family. He did not like whatever was happening, and that's the reason he said all these things to me.”

He added, “'Aap kyu Virat ke baare mein bol rahe ho? Aap kyu publicity le rahe ho (Why are you speaking about Virat? Why are you seeking publicity)?' He said something like this, I don't remember the exact words. Then he said, ‘Isse achha toh aap apne singing pe dhyan dete (Better that you focus on your singing).’ I know Vikas is a good guy, and I have not taken anything he said to my heart. Because the problem is that people just want to react without even knowing what the matter is.”

For those unaware, the controversy began when Rahul commented on Virat Kohli allegedly liking a post featuring Avneet Kaur. Rahul later claimed that Kohli had blocked him on Instagram, after which he started receiving abusive messages from the cricketer’s fans.
