Gurdas Maan's Canada Tour Postponed Amid India-Canada Tensions: It Is Necessary Course Of Action

The musical tour in Canada by Gurdas Maan has been put on indefinite hold due to political tensions between India and Canada.

New Delhi: The musical tour in Canada by Gurdas Maan has been put on indefinite hold due to political tensions between India and Canada. The tour's promoter said on Facebook that they had postponed the show, saying it was the "most responsible and necessary course of action" at the time. The country was scheduled to host the Punjabi singer between October 22 and October 31. Gurdas was scheduled to perform in Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, and Winnipeg.

Gurjit Bal Productions, the promoter of the event, wrote in his Facebook post: “We regret to inform you that Gurdas Maan’s ‘Akhiyaan Udeekdiyan’ Canada tour, scheduled to take place this month, has been POSTPONED. We understand that this news may come as a disappointment to many of his fans and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

“In light of the current diplomatic unrest between the two countries and after careful consideration and assessment of the unpredictable circumstances, it has been determined that the cancellation of the event is the most responsible and necessary course of action for the time being,” they added.

The statement further continued, "We understand the time, effort, and anticipation invested by everyone involved in the event, and we deeply regret any inconvenience this change may have caused. We will be taking the necessary steps to refund any registration fees or ticket purchases made for the event. Detailed information regarding the refund process will be shared with you directly via email/website/other preferred communication channel."

The concert has been postponed, they said, not cancelled.

After Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau claimed in his Parliament that a "foreign agent" was involved in the murder of Khalistan separatist leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, relations between India and Canada have reached an all-time low. He also asserted that he possessed intelligence reports and proof that Nijjar's death might have been planned by the Indian government.
