Chidiya Ud review: The underworld and the lives of sex workers have been recurring themes in countless films and series, yet 'Chidiya Ud', a series streaming on Amazon MX Player, manages to stand out and hold your interest throughout. Based on Abid Surti’s novel Cages, the show explores the idea that no one can truly be caged if they desire freedom.

Chidiya Ud plot

The story follows Sahar, a young woman forced to flee Rajasthan after an unexpected incident lands her in trouble. Seeking refuge in Mumbai, she finds herself in the infamous red-light district of Kamathipura, caught in the crossfire between two rival underworld factions. Despite being alone, Sahar refuses to give up. Her journey is fraught with challenges, but her indomitable spirit keeps her fighting. Over the course of eight 35-minute episodes, the series delves into how Sahar navigates the dangerous worlds of Kamathipura and the underworld, offering viewers a gripping tale of survival.

How is Chidiya Ud

At first glance, the show appears to be another tale of a woman’s struggles. However, it quickly introduces the underworld, the lives of sex workers, and the harsh realities of the red-light district. While these elements may feel familiar, the series keeps viewers engaged with unexpected twists and a fast-paced narrative. It sheds light on the lives of women in Kamathipura, why they end up there, and how relationships are often dictated by money. The story also addresses sensitive issues, such as the exploitation of young girls, in a way that evokes both shock and empathy.

The series moves at a steady pace, ensuring there’s never a dull moment. Some scenes are particularly hard-hitting, leaving a lasting impression.
