National Film Awards 2024: President Droupadi Murmu will present the awards, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award to Mithun Chakraborty.

The 70th National Film Awards will take place at Vigyan Bhavan on October 8, where the best in Indian cinema will be celebrated. President Droupadi Murmu will present the awards, including the Dadasaheb Phalke Award to Mithun Chakraborty. Films like ‘Brahmastra’ and ‘Ponniyin Selvan’ are among the winners.

National Film Awards 2024: Who are the winners?

The winners of the National Film Awards were announced in August. ‘KGF Chapter 2’ won Best Kannada Film and Best Action Direction. Rishabh Shetty took home Best Actor for ‘Kantara’. ‘Brahmastra: Part One—Shiva’ won multiple awards, including Best Male Playback Singer for Arijit Singh and Best Film in the AVGC category.

The Malayalam film ‘Aattam’ won the Best Feature Film award, while ‘Fouja’ (Haryanvi) took home the Best Debut Film honor. ‘Ayena’ (Mirror) received the award for Best Non-Feature Film, and ‘Murmurs of the Jungle’ was recognised with the award for Best Documentary.

Sooraj Barjatya won Best Director for ‘Uunchai’ (Hindi). Nithya Menen received the Best Actor in a Leading Role award for ‘Thiruchitrambalam’ (Tamil), while Manasi Parekh won for ‘Kutch Express’ (Gujarati), and Rishab Shetty for ‘Kantara’ (Kannada). Neena Gupta was honoured with Best Actor in a Supporting Role for ‘Uunchai’, alongside Pavan Raj Malhotra, who won for ‘Fouja’. The award for Best Lyrics went to Naushad Sadar Khan for ‘Fouja’.

When and where to watch National Film Awards

The National Film Awards ceremony will air live on DD National from 3 PM, featuring winners walking the red carpet ahead of the main event at 4 PM. For those unable to watch on television, the event will also be streamed live on DD National's YouTube channel.

The awards were announced by Rahul Rawail, who led the Feature Films Jury; Nila Madhab Panda, who chaired the Non-feature Films Jury; and Gangadhar Mudaliar, head of the Best Writing on Cinema Jury, along with Vrunda Desai, Joint Secretary (Films) from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
