EXCLUSIVE| Sushant Singh Rajput Case: Aditya Chopra Denies Shekhar Kapur's Claims, Says 'He Was Not Depressed Due To Paani'
Aditya Chopra was quizzed by the Bandra police on Saturday (July 18) for more than four hours in connection with Sushant Singh Rajput's suicide case.
New Delhi: YRF head honcho Aditya Chopra recorded his statement with Mumbai Police in connection with Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case on Saturday (July 18). Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur grabbed a lot of eyeballs when he shared a cryptic post after Sushant’s demise.
"I knew the pain you were going through. I knew the story of the people that let you down so bad that you would weep on my shoulder. I wish I was around the last 6 months. I wish you had reached out to me. What happened to you was their Karma. Not yours," Kapur’s tweet read.
Mumbai Police quizzed Aditya Chopra for over four hours. ABP News has learned some inside details about Chopra’s statement.
“YRF signed a contract with Sushant during November-December 2013 while Sanjay Leela Bhansali signed Ranveer Singh for ‘Ramleela’ in April 2013. Ranveer was offered ‘Ramleela’ even before SSR signed contract with YRF. So there is no question of Sushant losing the film because of his contract with YRF. Sanjay Leela Bhansali didn’t approach YRF for ‘Bajirao Mastani’. Sushant also didn’t inform us about ‘Bajirao Mastani’. He didn’t tell us that he was offered the movie or he wished to do it. If we can allow him to do ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’ while he was in a contract with YRF, why will we stop him from doing ‘Bajirao Mastani’? I and my team always promoted Sushant,” Aditya Chopra was quoted as saying by ABP News correspondent Ganesh Thakur.

‘Mr. India’ director Shekhar Kapur, in his statement to Mumbai Police, said that the ‘Raabta’ actor went into depression after ‘Paani’ got shelved.
Aditya Chopra has denied the claims made by Shekhar Kapur. “YRF decided to cast Sushant in ‘Paani’. Shekhar Kapur gave his approval after YRF convinced him. We invested Rs 5-6 crore in ‘Paani’. The film got shelved due to creative differences. Sushant was later released from the contract. There were no hard feelings,” he was quoted as saying.
