Rumi Jaffery On His Film With Sushant & Rhea Chakraborty: 'Not Thinking Of It Anymore'

Rumi Jaffery was planning to commence the shoot of his new film with Rhea Chakraborty and Sushant Singh Rajput in mid-2020. He has finally revealed if he is thinking to go ahead with the project or not.

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty remained in limelight for the second half of 2020 after Sushant Singh Rajput's father filed an FIR against her under various sections of the IPC including abetment of suicide. The 'Jalebi' actress, who was dating Sushant, was all set to team up with the 'Chhichhore' star for a film to be directed by Rumi Jaffery. The shooting of the film was supposed to commence from mid-2020. Rumi Jaffery, while talking to a leading daily, has now opened up about the film. He also revealed that that he is not thinking about the project. "We were supposed to start the film by mid-2020. The year was so terrible that I am not thinking of the film anymore," the director told Mid-Day. Jaffery further said that he is focusing on his upcoming film 'Chehre', which will mark the return of Rhea to the silver screen after a traumatic 2020. The producer of the film, Anand Pandit, is looking to release the film in the theatres. "Anand Pandit has decided to pursue a theatrical release. We need to support [the exhibitors],"Jaffery told the daily. He added that the makers are yet to decide the release date of 'Chehre'. The movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles. Rumi Jaffery had earlier said in an interview that Rhea would return to work in early 2021. Talking about Rhea Chakraborty, the 'Mere Dad Ki Maruti' actress was recently snapped in Mumbai with her brother Showik Chakraborty. She is reportedly looking for a new abode along with her family members. The Narcotics Control Bureau, which started its investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case after receiving official communication from the Enforcement Directorate, had arrested Rhea and her brother in September 2020. The NCB had arrested the siblings in a drug case linked to Sushant's death case. The Bombay High Court granted bail to Rhea on a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh in October while her brother Showik walked out of jail after staying behind the bars for nearly three months. Last month, Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer Satish Maneshinde requested the Central Bureau of Investigation to reveal the findings of their probe in SSR's death case. "It is high time that there is a closure to this sad event," Maneshinde said in a statement.
