‘Phule’ Day 1 Collection: Pratik Gandhi And Patralekhaa's Film Struggles To Find Box Office Footing, Opens To Modest Numbers

Despite significant buzz, the biographical film 'Phule', starring Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa, opened to a disappointing start at the box office.

New Delhi: With Pratik Gandhi and Patralekhaa in the lead roles, the highly anticipated biographical drama 'Phule' has had a mediocre opening weekend. The film barely made ₹24 lakh on its first day of release, even though it dealt with sensitive subjects and generated a lot of attention before its release.

According to Sacnilk, 'Phule' earned a total of Rs 21 lakh nett at the conclusion of Day 1 in India, with an initial collection of Rs 0.24 crore. Competition from other weekend releases, such as 'Ground Zero' and existing releases 'Kesari: Chapter 2' and 'Jaat', makes it seem like the film's earnings won't be easily recuperated.

'Phule' has been disappointing at the box office so far, but discussions around its delicate depiction of historical personalities indicate that it will likely continue to generate conversations in the days to come, which might impact its success in the long run.

About 'Phule'

'Phule' is an uplifting biography of the social reformers Jyotirao and Savitribai Phule, who stood up to the strongly established conventions of 19th-century India. The film follows the courageous choice of Jyotirao to educate Savitribai, who stood out from the crowd by doing so at a period when child marriage was common and females could not attend school.

Patralekhaa portrays Savitribai, while Pratik Gandhi plays Jyotirao Phule. The cast also includes Vinay Pathak as Govindrao Phule, Suresh Vishwakarma as Dr. Vishram Ghole, Sushil Pandey as Raja Ram Phule, Vishal Tiwari as Tatyasaheb Bhide, and Joy Sengupta as Vinayak Deshpande.

As per ABPLive review of the film: "Phule is not just a film, it’s a reminder of how far we’ve come, and how far we still have to go. It’s a tribute to real-life heroes whose legacy is visible in every classroom, every educated girl, and every woman who dares to dream. Pratik Gandhi delivers one of his finest performances as Jyotiba Phule—measured, layered, and deeply affecting."
