Nawazuddin Siddiqui Reacts To Criticism For Kissing Scene With Avneet Kaur In Tiku Weds Sheru

The trailer of Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur starrer 'Tiku Weds Sheru' was released recently and was criticised for a kissing scene between the actors due to their age gap.

New Delhi: The trailer of Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Avneet Kaur starrer 'Tiku Weds Sheru' was released recently and was criticised for a kissing scene between Nawaz and Avneet due to the age gap between the two actors. While Nawaz is 49, Avneet turned 21 in October last year. Now Nawaz has reacted to the backlash that the trailer has received and said that ‘romance is ageless’.

In an interview with India Today, the actor gave example of Shah Rukh Khan and said, “Romance is ageless. The problem is that the young men have no romance left. We are from the times when romance was something else. We would be in love and be in 'ishq' for years. Today, Shah Rukh Khan continues to do romantic roles because the young generation is ‘nalli’ (useless). They don't know romance.”

“Everything today happens on whatsapp, be it love, breakup. There is a reason behind this. People who have lived in romance can do romance. Who else will do it?, he added.

The netizens were quick to comment on the kissing scene between the two actors after the trailer launch because of the 28-year age gap between the two.

While Nawaz plays a junior artiste  in the film, Avneet plays the character of a young girl wanting to be an actress.

Talking about his role Nawaz told IANS, "I know how it feels to be a junior artist because I too was a struggling actor at some point in my life. I've been with junior artistes hence I know the struggles. I know their insecurities, their dreams, and their complexities. I know the fear of not knowing what your next meal would be like. I've worked in multiple films as a junior artist, I've done many ads as well. And if you see there's a coca cola ad featuring Sachin Tendulkar where me and a few of my friends, including Rajpal Yadav play the role of washermen. We hid our faces when the camera comes towards us, to save face as ex-NSD students."

Directed and co-written by Sai Kabir, and produced by Kangana Ranaut, 'Tiku Weds Sheru' , will release on Prime Video on June 23.
