Man Who Made Hoax Bomb Call At Amitabh Bachchan's House Arrested; Security Beefed Up

Mumbai Police officials have beefed up security outside Amitabh Bachchan's residence following the hoax bomb call.

Mumbai: The Crime Branch of Mumbai Police on Saturday (August 7) arrested two men, who called the police control room in an inebriated state and said that bombs have been planted at four different locations in Mumbai.  

The caller claimed that bombs have been planted at CST station, Byculla, Dadar and Bollywood actor Amitabh Bachchan’s bungalow. After receiving the call, the Mumbai Police immediately took action and deployed BDDS teams to start a search operation in the four locations.

When the police called the caller again to ask for additional information, he told the official to not disturb him and disconnected the phone. He also switched off his phone.  

 Police sources said that Amitabh Bachchan has four bungalows in Mumbai but the caller didn’t give any accurate information. Juhu Police had to thoroughly search all the four bungalows as the caller didn’t share additional details.  

A source said that Big B resides in Jalsa and the caller’s behavior suggested that it could be a hoax call, so the officials searched the surroundings of the bungalow without disturbing the veteran actor. Police took the help of Bomb Detection and Diffusal Squad team to conduct the search operation.  

The source added, “We didn’t wake Amitabh Bachchan and conducted the thorough investigation. The police then found out it was hoax phone call and the whole team was asked to leave the bungalow.” 

A senior official that additional police force was deployed outside Bachchan’s house after the bomb scare call.  

The police officials, while conducting the investigation, were able to trace the location of the phone. They have arrested the two men. 

Crime Branch DCP Prakash Jadhav said that the police officers have arrested the accused and started the investigation in the matter. The accused have been identified as Raju Kangne and Ramesh Sirsath. The two men, who are residents of Kalyan, called the police’s main control under the influence of alcohol.
