Farhan Akhtar Extends Support To Rhea Chakraborty; Says ‘Media Coverage That Surmises Her Character Serve No Purpose’

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) after three days of interrogation. The actress has been booked under various sections of the NDPS Act and was arrested in connection with a drug case related to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. Many Bollywood celebrities including Sonam Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Anurag Kashyap, Zoya Akhtar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and others came out in support of the ‘Jalebi’ actress claiming that the media trials against her is unfair. Recently, Farhan Akhtar also took to his Twitter and said that the media coverage that attacks her character and behaviour serves no purpose. The ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ actor further added that these practices distance the victims from justice and the accused from a fair trial. His tweet read, “Media coverage that surmise and denigrate her character and behaviour, serve no purpose. Condoning these practices distances the victims from justice and the accused from a fair trial and hampers our progress towards gender equality”

In another tweet, he wrote, “You deserve a PHD in whataboutery. When did I ever say the coverage of the issues you mention are ‘fair’? And for you to base your opinion of my knowledge of CAA on a cleverly edited clip created & looped by agenda-driven media houses says a lot about your gullibility.”

Elaborating on Bollywood’s silence on Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the ‘Don’ director wrote, “Firstly, it is not The Bollywood. Secondly, his fraternity has not been silent in the wake of his death. Thirdly, you are the one insisting on talking about the case when the topic actually is an employee highlighting a lack of ethics culture in her place of work.”

On the professional front, the actor can be next seen starring in ‘Toofan’.
