Sushant Singh Rajput's final film 'Dil Bechara' released today (Friday,July 24,2020) at 7.30 PM on Disney+Hotstar. Directed by Mukesh Chhabra, the film is the official adaptation of the popular novel and Hollywood film 'The Fault In Our Stars' and features debutant Sanjana Sanghi as the late actor’s love interest in the film.
The movie has been riding a wave of goodwill ahead of its release for the obvious reasons and the first thing that came to my mind after watching the film was that ‘ it’s a perfect tribute to the late actor’ as Sushant delivers his career best performance in his last film.
The film is an official adaptation of John Green’s 2012 novel The Fault in our Stars, about a young girl battling cancer and the charismatic boy she meets while undergoing treatment.
Sushant-Sanjana share sweet chemistry in 'Dil Bechara'
Sushant plays Immanuel Rajkumar Junior, popularly known as Manny, and from the moment he enters the screen owns it and once again proved what a brilliant actor he was and is surely an irreparable loss to Bollywood. Manny is witty, smart, introspective, and most importantly emotional & cheeky but never over the top.
Had the movie released in theatres, then Sushant’s entry scene copying Rajinikanth would have got thundering applause from audience in the form of claps and whistles.
At times you will feel the actor was narrating his own story, he teaches everyone to live life to fullest but deep down hides his own suffering. Some of the dialogues like ‘Jeena aur marna toh hum decide nahi karte, lekin kaise jeena hai ye hum decide kar sakte hain' will give you goosebumps.
I bet not just Sushant fans but anyone watching the film will find it difficult to hold back their tears as the actor nails every scene with perfection. The last 20 minutes is really heart-breaking & might leave your tissue box empty.
Director Mukesh Chabra too has done a wonderful job in his first film, and it’s really unfortunate that he won’t get a chance to thank his hero for his brilliant job.
Debutant Sanjana Sanghi too looks promising and wins heart as a sweet & innocent Kizzy Basu. Actress Swastika Mukerji as Sanjana’s mother too aces her role as a typical Bengali mom. Though Saif Ali Khan, goes unnoticed in the film in his really short cameo.
A R Rahman’s music is already ruling the chartbusters and goes with the pace of the film. Overall the film is a must watch, full of life and will keep you engrossed till the end.
Completely owned by Sushant Singh Rajput, ‘Dil Bechara’ will make you miss the late actor even more.
Go watch ‘Dil Bechara’ for SSR and don’t forget to grab a box of tissue!
