Deepika Padukone Is Lady Singham, Confirms Rohit Shetty, To Play Cop In Singham Again

New Delhi: The first song of filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s upcoming film 'Cirkus' was launched on Thursday. The song titled 'Current Laga Re' features Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone and both actors were present for the launch. During the launch, Rohit Shetty revealed that Deepika Padukone will be seen as a cop in his cop universe. 

Deepika will work with Rohit in the third film of his Singham franchise titled ‘Singham Again’. “It is known not that I am making ‘Singham Again’ next. People keep asking me if I will ever introduce a lady Singham. Today let me take his opportunity to say that Deepika and I will be working together in ‘Singham Again’ where she will be seen as lady Singham. Deepika is the lady bomb of my cop universe and we will start the film next year,” he told the media during the song launch. 

As soon as Rohit made the announcement, Deepika hugged Rohit Shetty on stage and said thank you.   

Earlier on December 1, makers had announced that Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty will be reuniting for ‘Singham Again’. With Deepika also on board as a cop, the anticipation around the film has increased even more. 

Rohit Shetty’s cop universe originated with Singham in 2011 and was followed by Singham Returns. Both films were super hit. Rohit extended the universe with With Ranveer Singh’s Simmba and Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi.  

Rohit Shetty had earlier confirmed about the third installment of the franchise to Indian Express.  “I am focusing on the next chapter of Singham. We will be starting the film in April next year, after Cirkus releases. While Singham is technically part of Simba and Sooryavanshi, it’s been a long time since I worked with Ajay. The last Singham came in 2014 and is yet one of the most favourite films on satellite. Time has changed and the canvas has become bigger and I have been wanting to make something with Ajay,” he had told Indian Express.
