Coronavirus: Deepika Padukone & Ranveer Singh To Donate To PM-CARES Fund

New Delhi: Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone took to Twitter and Instagram to announce that she along with her husband Ranveer Singh will donate to the PM-CARES Fund to support the government in the fight against Coronavirus pandemic. The ‘Padmaavat’ actress also urged her fans to contribute their bit during the crucial times. DP made the announcement on social media without disclosing the amount. "In times like these, every bit counts. We humbly pledge to contribute to PM-CARES FUND and hope that you will too. We're all in this together, and we shall overcome. Jai Hind. Deepika and Ranveer,” the couple said in a statement. Ranveer Singh also shared the post on his Twitter and Instagram handle. PM Narendra Modi created the Prime Minister’s Citizen Assistance and Relief in Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES) on March 28. He made a fervent appeal to the citizens and asked them to show their support for the cause. Several tinsel town celebs including Akshay Kumar, Shah Rukh Khan, Anushka Sharma, Kartik Aaryan and Vicky Kaushal have extended financial support to the government relief fund. The film is based on India's 1983 Cricket World Cup victory. Ranveer is playing the role of Kapil Dev while the 'Piku' actress is playing his on-screen wife. The makers of the sports drama had to postpone the release date of '83' due to the Coronavirus outbreak.
