Cheating Complaint Filed Against Makers Of Ranveer Singh Starrer '83': Report
Ahead of the release of '83', a UAE-based finance company has filed a cheating complaint against the makers of the film.
Mumbai: Ranveer Singh starrer '83' has been making waves ever since the makers unveiled the trailer. The sports drama, which has been directed by Kabir Khan, is based on India's 1983 Cricket World Cup victory. While movie buffs are eagerly waiting for the film's release, the producers have landed in trouble as a UAE-based finance company has filed a cheating complaint against them before a magistrate court in Mumbai.
Cheating Complaint Filed Against '83' Producers
According to a report in PTI, Future Resource FZE has moved Mumbai’s Andheri Metropolitan Magistrate's court, accusing the makers of ‘83’ of cheating. The finance company is seeking action against them under several sections of the Indian Penal Code including 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and 120-B (criminal conspiracy), the report in the news agency said.

Vibri Media and its directors were named in the complaint, which was filed through advocated Rizwan Siddiquee. As per the complaint, the accused produced the upcoming movie ‘83’ and made plans to cheat the company of its rights of the project.
The complainant alleged the directors of Vibri Media projected and submitted ‘manipulated and exaggerated’ profit-loss projections and business plans from April 2012 to March 2020 and induced the finance company to invest over Rs 15.90 crore, the report in PTI added.
'83' Release Date
The much-awaited flick will hit the silver screens on December 24, 2021. The film has been delayed twice due to the COVID-19 crisis. Trade pundits are expecting '83' to set the cash registers jingling upon its release at the box office.
'83' stars several talented actors including Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem and Boman Irani. Deepika Padukone, who is the co-producer of the film, will be seen essaying the role of Ranveer's on-screen wife in the sports drama.
