Abhishek Bachchan’s Jai Dixit From Dhoom Will Not Be Part Of YRF's Spy Universe

Recently there were speculations that Abhishek Bachchan’s Jai Dixit From 'Dhoom' will feature in Aditya Chopra’s spy universe. Turns out the rumours are all incorrect.

New Delhi: Yash Raj Films has created its spy universe, which includes films such as the 'Tiger' franchise, 'War' and 'Pathaan'. Recently there were speculations that Abhishek Bachchan’s Jai Dixit From 'Dhoom' will feature in Aditya Chopra’s spy universe – a crossover or merging of the Dhoom franchise with the Spy Universe. Turns out the rumours are all incorrect.

“Dhoom franchise and YRF Spy Universe are now two of the biggest IP’s in the history of Indian cinema and Aditya Chopra, who owns both these IP’s, will never merge the two because he would want to grow them separately. YRF Spy Universe is a world of super spies and Dhoom is the world of anti-establishment anti-heroes. They can’t come together. He will protect the sanctity of these two universes and grow them separately to make them even bigger IP’s in the years to come,” informed a very senior trade source.

“So, no you won’t see any characters from these Universes overlapping in either franchise. Story wise also it doesn’t make sense at all. So, all this talk is completely baseless that Jai Dixit will be seen in the YRF Spy Universe. No one from Dhoom will be seen in the YRF Spy Universe and vice versa,” the source added.

The first 'Dhoom' film was released in 2004 with Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham. It was followed by 'Dhoom 2' with Hrithik Roshan and 'Dhoom 3' with Aamir Khan.

Meanwhile, YRF’s ‘Pathaan’ has zoomed past the Rs 1,000 crore gross worldwide, becoming the first Hindi film to breach this milestone in phase one of its release.

'Pathaan', on its fourth Monday, saw a solid jump again at the box office. It collected Rs 1.25 crore net in India (Hindi - Rs 1.20 crore, All Dubbed versions - Rs 0.05 crore).

'Pathaan' has now recorded $45.94 million in the overseas territories alone, while net collection in India stands at Rs 516.92 crore (Hindi - Rs 498.95 crore, Dubbed - Rs 17.97 crore)! The total worldwide gross is an incredible Rs 1000 crore (India gross - Rs 623 crore, overseas - Rs377 crore).

The film, directed by Siddharth Anand, stars Shah Rukh Khan, John Abraham and Deepika Padukone.
