Karan Johar has broken his silence on the growing speculation surrounding his health after recent images of his dramatic weight loss set off alarm bells on social media.

Karan Johar has broken his silence on the growing speculation surrounding his health after recent images of his dramatic weight loss set off alarm bells on social media. The acclaimed filmmaker, known for his sharp wit and style, addressed the buzz during the trailer launch of 'Dhadak 2', setting the record straight once and for all.
Karan Johar on chatter about his weight loss
Responding to a journalist who complimented his new look, Karan didn’t shy away from acknowledging the internet chatter that followed a viral photo of him with comedian Samay Raina.
"Internet pe toh logon ne mujhe maara hi dala tha. Unhone kaha ki yeh kya hogaya hai, yeh kaunsi beemari paal raha hai Karan. Toh main un sab se kehna chahta hun, meri sehat bilkul theek hain. Main bhut khush hun infact I have never felt lighter on my feet," he was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.
He added with his trademark humour and candour, "Toh main zinda hun aur zinda rahunga. Pehle main netizen jo keh rahe hain, unse kahunga ki main bhut saal jeena chahta hun specially for my kids. Sabke liye mere andar bhut saari kahaniyan baaki hain, unhe darshana baaki hai abhi."
No Ozempic, Just lifestyle changes
Karan’s transformation had earlier sparked rumours that he had turned to Ozempic, a drug popularly associated with rapid weight loss. However, Johar has firmly denied those claims. On Raj Shamani’s podcast, the filmmaker had said, “People keep saying I’m on Ozempic, and I’m tired of it. You don’t know my truth, and I’m not interested in telling you my truth,” he said. Adding a dash of humour to his denial, Karan remarked, “If I’d used it, I would’ve openly said so, and I’d have advised others as well. I’ll find a way to monetise it. I will try and leverage it if I want to.”
What worked for him was the OMAD (One Meal a Day) regimen. For seven months straight, Karan stuck to a single meal at 8:30 pm, completely cutting out gluten, lactose, and sugar.
On the work front
Professionally, Karan is gearing up for the release of 'Dhadak 2', the much-talked-about spiritual successor to his 2018 film Dhadak. While the original starred Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter, the sequel shifts focus to Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, whose characters battle caste-based discrimination in love and life. Directed by Shazia Iqbal and backed by Dharma Productions, the film also features Saurabh Sachdeva and is set to hit theatres on August 1.
