Fawad Khan On His Physical Transformation For ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’: ‘My Kidneys Shut Down, Was Hospitalised'

Pakistani actor Fawad Khan underwent a physical transformation for his film ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ due to which his kidneys shut down and he was hospitalised.

New Delhi: Pakistani actor Fawad Khan is currently busy promoting his upcoming film ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’. Touted as one of the most expensive Pakistani films, ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ also stars Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mahira Khan, Humaima Malick, Gohar Rasheed, and others.

In the film, Fawad plays Maula Jat – a prizefighter who wants to seek vengeance against Noori Natt (played by actor Hamza Ali Abbasi), the most feared warrior in the land of Punjab. For the role of a fighter, Fawad had to undergo physical transformation due to which his kidneys shut down and he was hospitalised.

In a conversation with Something Haute, when asked about his physical transformation for the film Fawad replied, “It is not the best thing I did to myself. I would never do that again. I just made some questionable choices, which negatively affected me. The amount of stress that I put on myself. There is a dark underbelly to all of these physical transformations and people should know that when you make these decisions, it is taking a huge toll on your health. And it happened. Ten days into it, I was hospitalised. My kidneys shut down as I am a diabetic” he said.

Fawad revealed that he gained almost 25 kg for the film and went from 75 kg to 100 kg. “I was putting in insane hours. It’s not the right way to do these things because the thing is I had limited time. I had just one month and so to bulk up. Due to whatever circumstances, it happened the way it happened. I am not Christian Bale but I tried to do what he does, even Aamir Khan for that matter, if I had six months may be Maula Jatt would have been different.” he said.

He also said that he will never recommend this to anyone and he had a negative impact due to this. The actor also said that he was hospitalised for a few days but it took him almost three months to recover fully.
