Director Apoorva Lakhia recently shared an intriguing anecdote about Amitabh Bachchan’s meticulous approach to keeping up with news, even in an era when digital access was not as widespread.

When Amitabh Bachchan Had Indian Newspapers Delivered to Bangkok Every Day

During a conversation with Friday Talkies, Apoorva reminisced about working with Bachchan on the 2005 film ‘Ek Ajnabee’, which also starred Arjun Rampal. He shared that back then, Bachchan would have newspapers flown in daily to Bangkok just so he could stay informed about events in India.

“At that time, there used to be a morning flight (from Mumbai) to Bangkok, and it used to go back (to Mumbai) in the evening. So Rosy (his secretary) would collect all the newspapers and she would send them in the flight. And here, someone would collect all the newspapers and give them to Amit ji and he would read all of them,” Apoorva recalled.

Sharing more about Bachchan’s routine, Apoorva added, “He would sit with a marker and mark out a few things and then the papers would go back to India at night.” This ritual, lasted about 30 minutes each morning.
