Vivek Oberoi On Having A Dwarf Cow At His Mumbai House: ‘Wo Itna Pyaar Deti Hai, Stress Dur Ho Jaata Hai’

Vivek Oberoi shares that his cow named Kamadhenu helps him relax. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Live, Vivek talked in detail about his pet cow.

New Delhi: The Mumbai house of actor Vivek Oberoi is the epitome of chic eccentricity, with just the right amount of charm and sophisticated aesthetic details. The actor has also kept a pet cow at his house. In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Live, Vivek talked in detail about his pet cow, Kamadhenu.

According to Vivek Oberoi, his cow helps him in releasing stress. He said, “Mujhe laga ki log apne ghar me kutta, billi, bohot alag alag type ke pet palate hai. Gaay mujhe aisa lagta hai wo ulta hume paalti hai. Wo bohot pyaar deti hai, bohot energy change ho jaati hai. Maine khud anubhav kiya ha jab bhi koi stress wala maamla hota hai aur matlab pareshaani hoti hai, ya bohot hectic shooting se hum aaye hain, mai aata hu, unse milta hu aur usey sehlaata hu. Aur wo itna pyaar deti hai ki paanch minute me saara stress dur ho jaata hai. (I felt that people keep dogs, cats and many different types of pets in their homes. Cow, it seems to me that she is raising us. She gives a lot of love and a lot of energy gets transformed. I have experienced it myself that whenever there is a stressful issue and I mean there is trouble, or we have come back from a very hectic shooting, I come, meet her and console her. And she gives so much love that all the stress goes away in five minutes.)”

Talking more about his cow Kamadhenu, Vivek shared, “Wo rescue thi. Mujhe kisi ne bataya tha, ek worker the, ki ye katghare jaa rahi thi, pregnant thi. Ye choti gaay hai, dwarf cow. Kuch pichle janam ka hissa hoga. Maine kaha ki isko jo truck nikli ghar ke liye usi se ghumao aur mere paas bhejo. Halanki bharat me cow slaughter illegal bhi hai. (She was rescued. Someone told me, there was a worker, that this cow who was going to the slaughterhouse was pregnant. This is a small cow, dwarf cow. Something might be related to a previous life. I told him to take him in the truck that was coming home and send him to me. Although cow slaughter is also illegal in India.)”

Vivek shared that her mother once asked for an unconventional present on her birthday—the rescue of cows from slaughterhouses. He recalled, “I had asked mother once what we wanted on her birthday. She said to save the cows that are slaughtered and give them to a cowshed and take care of them, she started a cowshed in Vrindavan, and now there are around 300-350 cows there because every year on mother's birthday we do this. Those who cannot give milk are at the end of their life, their milk cycle is over but they can still live comfortably for 8 to 10 years as retired cows.”

Vivek said that he rescues desi cows and provides shelter for them. “In India we give more importance to all foreign things, so even if it is a Jersey cow we will still give it importance but if it is a Desi cow, we don't give it any importance. So, we only support and help the Desi cows, send them to cow shelters and donate them to poor farmers,” he concluded.
