Vir Das Takes A Humorous Jab At India's Award Shows: 'Probably For The Best'
Comedian and actor Vir Das has taken to Instagram to share his thoughts on the difference between Indian and international award shows.

New Delhi: The witty and eccentric Vir Das has done it again with a social media post that has his fans in fits of laughter. The actor-comedian poked fun at India's entertainment award ceremonies and made a passing reference to the current 'India's Got Talent' controversy.
In contrast to foreign award ceremonies like the Oscars, which have included comedians like Conan O'Brien as hosts, Vir brought out the odd lack of stand-up comedians presenting big events in India, without mentioning any particular award show.
As Vir posted on Instagram, “While watching a major entertainment awards show. I'm pretty sure a few fellow Indian comedians play a game in our head. We wonder why Indian awards shows don't use modern stand-up comedians at major awards.”
“Then....we think of some of the jokes we would do, the utter shitstorm that would follow, then we think it's probably for the best," he said with a tongue-in-cheek thought.
Vir Das Takes A Dig at Sponsors
Vir continued his criticism of Indian award presentations by making fun of the boring list of sponsors that presenters are required to read out before each program. “Also we remember the opening monologue is at the top of the show, which logically requires showing up on time, and staying for the whole show, which again reaffirms....probably for the best also just rhythm wise...it's hard to do an edgy joke after saying "Manikchand pan pasand fun flips Zorro plus zandu bandu MDH MCD motorola parivar...,” he concluded.

It seems like Vir is referring to the 'India's Got Talent' controversy which started when Ranveer Allahbadia made a provocative remark on Samay Raina's program.
Many of his fans found his perspective on the matter to be amusing. Someone wrote, "India isn't ready for Samay Raina comedy. India isn't ready for ANY type of comedy," while another one praised him, saying "The only guy in the subcontinent with the balls to say it all."
