On making their relationship public
During an interview with Shubhankar Mishra on YouTube, Vijay was asked if he had any reservations about revealing his relationship with Tamannaah. He explained, "I think we were both in agreement that if we enjoy spending time together and genuinely like each other, there’s no reason to keep it hidden. It takes a lot of effort to maintain secrecy in a relationship—you can’t go out together, and your friends can’t take pictures of you. I don’t like those kinds of restrictions. It wasn’t about seeking attention, but I didn’t want to feel trapped. I didn’t want to confine my feelings."
Keeping many aspects of the relationship private
Vijay also mentioned that while their relationship is now public, many aspects of it remain private. "I have over 5,000 photos of us together, but none of those are on social media. Those moments are just for us."
On personal life overshadowing professional life
When asked if the focus on his relationship overshadows his work, Vijay commented, "In today’s society, everyone seems to be interested in other people’s lives. There’s a nosy relative in all of us who loves to discuss other people's relationships. It’s become like a disease, and there’s nothing you can do about it. I can’t change that. But when it comes to my work, I do receive recognition and appreciation once my projects are released. I can’t deny that."

For women who are high achievers, we often feel like we have to work hard for everything, but with him, I didn’t have to walk on eggshells. I could just be myself. It’s a friendship at its core, someone you can laugh with about anything, even to the point where you sound like different animals. He’s someone I care about deeply—he’s my happy place."
