Vijay Deverakonda On Self-Inflicted Punishment Post Liger Failure: 'For The Next 3 Films, I Will Shut My Mouth'

Vijay Deverakonda also blamed himself for not watching 'Liger. He said, "The thing about Liger that upset me was why did I not see it, that failure did not affect me so much...

New Delhi: Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha Ruth Prabhu starrer 'Kushi' will be released on September 1. The romantic drama film will mark Samantha and Vijay's second collaboration after 'Mahanti'. At the grand 'Kushi' trailer launch, Vijay answered many questions pertaining to the film, audiences, Liger's failure, his marriage, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and so much more.

Among other questions, a common thread that ran at the press meet was the failure of 'Liger'. And, Vijay Deverakonda did speak about that in detail. When asked about his judgment getting clouded after the failure of 'Liger', he replied that that was not the case. The failure of 'Liger' did hurt him. It was not like 'Liger' was his first flop, he has had his share of hits and flops. Butm what matters is to keep going and be at it.

In another instance, he answered about Liger's failure, "I handle failure, consider why what went wrong, failures are really important. And, Liger was important for me. I needed a failure like Liger to learn something, because there is no institution around me that guides me. I make my own decisions, some fail and some do well..."

"I' ll think of the film, the process fondly, " Deverakonda added despite the fact that the failure hurts you just have to get back up and continue running and keep at it.

Vijay Deverakonda also blamed himself for not watching 'Liger. He said, "The thing about Liger that upset me was why did I not see it, that failure did not affect me so much.. for me when Vijay Deverakonda says something he makes it happen.I said Liger would be a hit but it wasn't, so how the bloody hell you did not see it. So, now I have decided for the next three films, I will shut my mouth and let my work speak-- self -inflicted punishment because I embarrassed myself, so I have given myself that punishment”.

'Liger' starred Devarakonda and Ananya Panday in the lead. The film was backed by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and also marked Deverakonda's big Bollywood debut.

During the 'Koffee With Karan S7' episode with Ananya, Devarakonda flaunted and said that 'Liger' would be a hit and that he believes so. However, after the release and dismal performance of the film, Devarakonda blamed himself for being quite vocal and not watching the film prior to its release.

Meanwhile, 'Kushi' will star Vijay Deverakonda, Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead and will be released on September 1, 2023.
