Urvashi Rautela Defends 'Dabidi Dibidi' Song Amid Backlash, Calls Working With Nandamuri Balakrishna An 'Honour'

Actress Urvashi Rautela has responded to the backlash surrounding her song 'Dabidi Dibidi' from the film 'Daaku Maharaaj', which also stars Nandamuri Balakrishna.

New Delhi: Urvashi Rautela, who is currently making waves with her performance in Daaku Maharaaj's hit song 'Dabidi Dibidi', has talked about her experience of dancing alongside legendary actor Nandamuri Balakrishna. Criticism of the song and its choreography hasn't broken Urvashi, and she's thankful for the opportunity instead.

Urvashi described working with Balakrishna as "an absolute honour" in an interview with IANS, adding that the two of them had a deeper connection than just a performance. She said, "Success inevitably invites scrutiny, and I understand that discussions and varied opinions are part of the journey. Regarding the dance with Nandamuri garu, I respect the diversity of perspectives that come with any performance. Working with a legend like him was an absolute honour, and the experience was one of collaboration, mutual respect, and passion for the craft."

'Dabidi Dibidi' Backlash

The biggest reason the song has caused a stir online is because of the huge age difference between the actress, who is 30 years old, and Balakrishna, who is 64 years old. A number of people criticised the dance, with some even going so far as to term it "vulgar."

Urvashi said in her reaction to the outrage that she knew success would come with criticism

At a celebration of 'Daaku Maharaaj' success, a video of Urvashi and Balakrishna dancing together surfaced online. Many on social media noticed that Balakrishna danced enthusiastically, while Urvashi seemed awkward throughout the performance, particularly at the song's hook step.
