Sonu Sood On Why Tweets Thanking Him Disappeared For His Humanitarian Work During Pandemic: 'No PR, You Can Check'

Actor Sonu Sood, who found massive appreciation for his humanitarian work during the pandemic, recently spoke about his experiences while promoting his upcoming film 'Fateh'.

Actor Sonu Sood, who found massive appreciation for his humanitarian work during the pandemic, recently spoke about his experiences while promoting his upcoming film 'Fateh'. When he was asked about a narrative that has been doing the rounds online where many speculate he had a PR machinery working to promote his charitable work. Sood told Shubhankar Mishra, in a podcast, "It’s ok, people might be saying that.”

PR promotion of Sood's humanitarian work during COVID-19?

When it was pointed to Sood that several other Bollywood celeb, including Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar, also participated in philanthropic efforts and helped those in need during the pandemic, but their efforts did not get the same level of attention, Sood stated, "Everybody worked (during the Covid-19 pandemic). When I was working during this time… You can go and check; you won’t see Instagram posts on my account, you’ll hardly see anything. I was active on Twitter (now X), that too I would give answers and kya karna tha wohi rehta tha.”

Sonu Sood also shared that he did not have any journalists calling him up for interviews or any PR team promoting his work, “I didn’t have any PR, sab gayab ho chuke the,” adding that his only focus was to get aid and support to those in need.

When he was asked about the disappearance of tweets from people he had helped during the pandemic, he said that once these people received assistance, they would often delete their tweets to avoid being inundated with calls and messages from others seeking help and his focus on helping people and supporting them took precedence over self-promotion.

He said, "See, if someone tweeted that their mother had a particular problem, and then I helped them, after they receive help, others would start calling them to an extent that one could go mad. People have told me that their phones were ringing non-stop. They told me that people would tell them, ‘Tera kaam ho gaya, mera kyon nahi karata?‘ These people were like, ‘I am not able to do it anymore.’

If the tweets were from fake accounts, they managed to stay where they were.

Sood has been promoting his latest film 'Fateh' which collected Rs. 10 cr at the box office. The film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez.
