Punjabi singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh is once again rewriting the rules of global stardom. In 2025, he made a grand entrance at the Met Gala, effortlessly commanding the fashion spotlight. Diljit didn’t just walk the red carpet — he owned it, turning heads and leaving a lasting mark on the fashion world. His presence was so powerful that he almost overshadowed Bollywood megastars Shah Rukh Khan and Kiara Advani, who also made their Met Gala debut this year.

In a surprising turn, Diljit Dosanjh was named Best Dressed Celebrity at this year’s Met Gala, topping a Vogue readers’ poll with 307 standout looks. He beat out big names like Shah Rukh Khan, who made his debut, and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, a Met Gala regular.

According to Vogue, Diljit Dosanjh claimed the coveted #1 spot on their global readers’ choice list, outshining 306 other A-listers. He wore a stunning Prabal Gurung sherwani, meticulously designed as a nod to his Punjabi heritage and inspired by the legendary Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala, effortlessly combining royal grandeur with cultural pride.

Met Gala 2025

Diljit’s Met Gala look featured a cream Prabal Gurung jacket with rose gold floral crystals, paired with a leopard-print silk shirt and black leather pants. He accessorised with his signature tinted glasses, a jewel-studded turban, and a lion-headed kirpan.

His necklace, inspired by the Patiala Necklace, and Cartier accessories added a regal touch. The highlight was a custom-made cape, embroidered with a map of Punjab and Gurumukhi script, crafted by 50 artisans as a tribute to his heritage.

Vogue’s fashion rankings saw a stellar lineup, with S Coups, Zendaya, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Shakira, and Lewis Hamilton. Though Kiara Advani made her debut as a Met Gala guest, she didn’t make it to the Best Dressed list this year.
