Salman Khan Firing Case: From Facebook Threat To Email, A Timeline Of Threats Faced By The Actor

Actor Salman Khan has been facing ongoing threats for a few years now. Read to know the timeline.

On a typical Sunday morning (April 14), gunfire outside Salman Khan's Mumbai flat, generated tension among the Khan family. At approximately 4:55 am, two bikers opened fire outside Galaxy Apartments in Bandra, where the actor resides. This alarming incident left fans and the public stunned. Officers from the Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police and the forensics team arrived at the crime scene and filed a FIR, and the investigation was thereafter started. Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta were detained for allegedly shooting at Salman Khan's Bandra residence. On Monday, a man from Haryana has also been detained in relation to gunfire incident. 

This isn't the first time that something horrific has happened to Salman Khan. In the past, he has faced numerous death threats, indicating a recurring pattern of threats to his safety and security.

Salman Khan Firing Case: A Timeline Of Threats

Lawrence Bishnoi's threat in 2018

In 2018, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi issued a chilling threat against Salman Khan during a court appearance, linking it to the actor's involvement in the blackbuck hunting case of 1998. The Bishnoi community considers blackbucks sacred hence it adds weight to the threat.

Death Threat After Sidhu Moose Wala's Demise 

Following the demise of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala in May 2022, Salman Khan and his father Salim Khan received a death threat in June. A handwritten letter was sent by an anonymous sender. The Bishnoi gang reportedly murdered singer Sidhu Moose Wala in Punjab's Mansa region. The threat letter said that Salman Khan will face the same fate. 

Email Threat in March 2023

A fresh death threat surfaced via email, referencing jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's alleged intent to harm Salman Khan. A close acquaintance of Salman's got an email mentioning that killing Salman was Lawrence Bishnoi’s mission. Mumbai Police took swift action, registering an FIR against Lawrence Bishnoi, as well as another individual, under criminal conspiracy and criminal intimidation.

Threat from 'Cow Protector' over call

In April 2023, a death threat from a man identifying as a "cow-protector" from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, sparked concern. The unknown caller claimed to be Rocky Bhai, who had previously vowed to murder Salman.  The Mumbai Police eventually tracked down the caller and detained a 16-year-old suspect in connection with the threat.

Facebook Threat in November 2023

In November 2023, Salman Khan faced another serious threat on Facebook from an account claiming to be associated with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. This Facebook account even featured Bishnoi's photo as its profile picture. The threatening post was directed towards Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal, but it also issued a warning to Salman.

For the unversed, Lawrence Bishnoi is presently inside jail in a drug smuggling case.

As a result of the threats, Salman Khan's security level has been increased to Y-Plus from November 2022. In addition, he has been granted permission to carry a personal handgun.
