Amid swirling rumours about the casting of 'Race 4', producer Ramesh Taurani has cleared the air around the much-anticipated next chapter in the popular action-thriller franchise.

The buzz around the film had sparked speculation about who would headline the project, but Taurani has now issued an official statement to clarify that discussions are only underway with Saif Ali Khan and Sidharth Malhotra.

Casting of Race 4

In a post shared by Tips Films, the production house stated, “We would like to clarify that we are currently in discussions only with Saif Ali Khan and Sidharth Malhotra for the next instalment of the Race franchise (Race 4), which is currently in its scripting phase. No other male or female actors have been approached at this stage. We sincerely request the media and social media pages to avoid engaging with false news and to wait for an official confirmation from our PR team.”

Saif to be back in Race franchise

Taurani's announcement has added fuel to fans’ excitement, especially with the possibility of Saif Ali Khan making a comeback to the franchise after sitting out Race 3. The actor was the face of the first two films, both directed by Abbas-Mustan. The original film released in 2008 featured a star-studded lineup including Akshaye Khanna, Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu, Anil Kapoor, and Sameera Reddy.

'Race 2' carried forward the legacy, with Saif and Anil Kapoor reprising their roles. John Abraham joined the cast as the antagonist, while Deepika Padukone and Jacqueline Fernandez played the female leads. The third installment, 'Race 3', took a different route with Salman Khan taking over the lead role, marking a departure from the earlier narrative.

Saif Ali Khan and Sidharth Malhotra's upcoming projects

On the work front, Saif Ali Khan is currently gearing up for his upcoming Netflix release, 'Jewel Thief – The Heist Begins', which also stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Kunal Kapoor, and Nikita Dutta. The heist drama is scheduled to drop on April 25.

Meanwhile, Sidharth Malhotra is set to appear alongside Janhvi Kapoor in Param Sundari, which is slated for a theatrical release on July 25.
