Rani Mukerji Shares Her Miscarriage Story, Reveals She Lost Her Second Baby 5 Months Into Her Pregnancy
During Melbourne's Indian Film Festival, Rani Mukerji disclosed that she had suffered a miscarriage in 2020.
New Delhi: Rani Mukerji, who is now a panelist at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne, discussed a difficult time in her own life. In 2020, towards the end of the fifth month of her pregnancy, she disclosed that she had suffered a miscarriage. Rani said that if she had spoken about her experience during the promotions of ‘Mrs Chatterjee vs. Norway’ or before its release, it would have been seen as an attempt to boost interest in the film.
Actress Rani Mukerji was a recent guest at Melbourne's Indian Film Festival. The actress spoke about the tragic experience she had in 2020 during the pandemic, according to a story by The Business Today. She shared that she had a miscarriage.
Rani shared, “Maybe this is the first time I am making this revelation because in today’s world, every aspect of your life is discussed publicly, and becomes an agenda for talking about your film to get more eyeballs. Obviously, I didn’t speak about this when I was promoting the film because it would have come across as me trying to speak about a personal experience that would propel the film… so, it was around the year when Covid-19 struck. It was 2020. I got pregnant with my second baby at the end of 2020 and I unfortunately lost my baby five months into my pregnancy."
Rani Mukerji was last seen in 'Mrs. Chatterjee vs. Norway', which came out earlier this year. She portrayed an immigrant woman who battled the Norwegian legal system to keep her children with her. Rani's acting in the film has been universally praised. She received high marks for her ability to convey the sorrow of a mother who is about to lose her children.
Rani and Aditya Chopra had their first child, a daughter named Adira, in 2015.
